news nowadays frightens and saddens me.
Locally, there was the detainment of student activist Adam Adli a few days ago (just released today and now charged under the sedition act). with his subsequent release under bail, Tian Chua and a couple other PKR (opposition party) members are locked up for making similar seditious remarks. and not to mention news reporters getting hurt amidst chaos when some people disrupted the peaceful candlelight vigil outside Jinjang Police Station where Adam Adli was detained. The KL city police chief commented today that the police will take action on politically motivated candlelight vigils as it would cause “anxiety” among residents. okay and this is even in the new york times.
And then today a man died in police custody apparently due to asthma, looking battered with his ears stapled (???). Not to mention the crime rate in Malaysia which is evidently not going too well with the homes of sisters of our Deputy PM and the inspector general police being broken into. and also a Malaysian Mediacorp artiste Chris Tong who also got hurt during an attempted robbery after supper at 3am outside her house.

I am reminded of 1984 by George Orwell (guess who is Big Brother LOL) and also the fact that we are all corrupted people in need of God.
I risk sounding like an doomsday fanatic but the society nowadays just sounds like the Old Testament over and over again.
i’m beginning to understand David’s Psalms in the Bible. it’s funny how my race can be such a big deal, and so can my nationality.
I don’t feel very much accepted by my country’s government now after what was known as a “chinese tsunami” contributed to their lack of Chinese votes in the general election held two days ago.
and over here in the country where I’m studying abroad, I am (sometimes) being mocked/oppressed for my nationality.
i just speak mandarin, and english with a different accent, and was born and raised in another country, with some very different mindset about various things.
that doesnt give anyone any more right to “boss over” me or say what’s right and what’s not.
Because I answer to my God and no one else.
God decides what is righteous and what is not, and may God judge over my words as well.
p.s. these are words of anger and frustration which may as well subside soon lol
6 more hours and the results of Malaysia’s 13th general election will be out (hopefully).
I’ve been paying much more attention to this election mainly cause of the bombardment of anti-govt and pro-opposition photos/videos all over facebook; and also the fact that I am finally a qualified voter (unfortunately i didn’t register for postal voter this time. superr regret ><)
There were countless videos facebook on how Chinese were being deprived of their rights to build chinese schools (they had to fork out their own money for the building, tables, chairs etc through donation and STILL put the school under the government’s claim), the unfair distribution of welfare resources and also dirty tactics by BN (barisan national which is the current ruling party) to fork out voters. My friend told me that BN went out to markets to give out red packets to the hawkers for them to vote BN; and not to mention shipping foreigners in to get more votes (read here). But then again FB is obviously anti-govt and we mostly get biased opinions (while local newspapers have all been “bought” by the ruling party and one can get all pro-govt stuff there anyway)
just got interrupted by a classmate who saw me blogging and quizzed me on endocrine stuff *guilty*
gotta get back to studies and pray for a better government for Malaysia despite the election results! and hope that it will be a clean election and may the people’s choice win =)
